On site grinding

The roller skewing controls the axial thrust or the kiln, but it will only be effective and sustainable if the contact pattern between roller and tyres is good. This contact can be compromised if the rolling surfaces has conical / concave / convex wear, or the level of the rollers is different than the kiln level.

If some of this happens, the roller thrust will be inappropriate or unpredictable, wich have some of the folowing consequences:

  • Hot bearings
  • Uneven load distribution, rollers with opposite thrust, great difficulty or even impossibibility to change the Axial Kiln load distribution.
  • Axial Kiln Thrust Distribution (Unbalanced). The kiln should move according to the thrust rollers movement (uphill 4…8h, downhill 12…24h) or according to the variation of the friction coefficient allow the kiln to move in intervals downhill and uphill (by graphite lubrication).Roller adjustment is a key factor for the roller,tyre and girth gear lifetime, and for the kiln availability, and efficiency, since a consequence of the roller misalignment is the Increase of kiln amperage.
  • Surface damage and excessive Wear of the rolling surface.
